Our guides and instructors are experienced climbers and undergo rigorous training before leading any classes. Equipment is state-of-the-art and inspected regularly. INTRO CLASSES

INTRO TO BOULDERING
For just $25* you can take the Intro to Bouldering Technique class, designed to help people recognize movement and learn techniques required for bouldering.
In addition, participants will learn the basics about sport-specific strength training. The Intro to Bouldering Technique class is a 1½ hr. class.
  • It is ideal for climbers ages 14 and older.
  • The class meets most Wednesdays from 6:30-8:00PM at our South End location.

Class size is limited, so we recommend you pre-register to guarantee your place in the class.

INTRO TO TOP ROPE CLIMBING

For just $35* you can take the Intro to Top Rope Climbing, which will teach you everything you need to know to climb safely at an indoor facility.

  • It is ideal for climbers ages 16 and older.
  • You will learn basic belay and rope management procedures, as well as essential climbing techniques.
  • The class meets most Saturdays at 10:00am or every other Monday evening at South End at 6:00pm, and lasts approximately 2 to 3 hours.

Class size is limited, so we recommend you pre-register to guarantee your place in the class.

PREREQUISITE: Participants must be 16 yrs or older

INTRO TO INDOOR LEAD CLIMBING

For just $45** you can take the Introduction to Indoor Lead Climbing class will give you all the skills you need to lead climb safely indoors and the foundation skills for outdoor sport climbing.

  • Usually meets 1st Sunday of the month at Crown Point from 1p-5p, or alternating Mondays/Tuesdays at South End from 6p-10p.
  • The class meets one time for four hours

PREREQUISITE: Participants must be 18 yrs or older with Top Rope Certification with Inner Peaks for at least 3 months.

IP Bolted Anchors Building

The Inner Peaks Bolted Anchor Building clinic is an opportunity to learn the basics of top rope anchor building in an indoor environment. It allows students to learn how to build two different types of anchors when bolts are available.

Students will work in groups of two and build anchors consistent with industry standard practices.  In doing so, they will:

  • Learn the pros and cons of each anchor type
  • Learn to determine the best options.

This is a great way to get the introductory basics to begin the move from the Gym to the Crag.

Prerequisites:    Age 16 or older

IP Natural Anchors Building

The Inner Peaks Natural Anchor Building clinic is an opportunity to learn the basics of top rope anchor building off trees and rocks in an indoor environment. It allows students to learn how to build anchors when there are no bolts.

Students will work in groups of two and build anchors consistent with industry standard practices.  In doing so, they will:

  • Learn the pros and cons of each anchor type
  • Learn to determine the best options.

This is a great way to get the introductory basics to begin the move from the Gym to the Crag.

IP Rappelling Basics

The Inner Peaks Rappelling Basics clinic is an opportunity to learn the basics of safe rappelling practices. It allows students to learn how to rappel indoors at the gym and to learn back-up systems for a rappel.

Students will learn how to back up their rappels with industry standard practices and knowledge. This course will not teach you how to set up anchors nor how to rappel off anchors.

As an introductory course, this is a great way to get the introductory basics of rappelling to begin the move from the Gym to the Crag. Students will do a short rappel and a long rappel in a controlled indoor environment.

Students will work with a certified guide at Crowder’s Mountain State Park and will work in groups to set up bolted anchors and climb on them. They will learn the industry standards of bolted top rope anchors. As an introductory course, this is a great way for students to get the introductory basics of bolted anchor building to begin the move from the Gym to Crag and gain outdoor experience with oversight from an Instructor.

OP Rappelling

The Outer Peaks Rappelling clinic is an opportunity to go outdoors with a certified guide. It allows guests to climb and rappel outdoors for fun. Students will learn the basics of rappelling and climbing in an outdoor environment.

Students will work with a certified guide at Crowder’s Mountain State Park to climb and rappel at multiple locations on top of the iconic mountain. As an introductory experience, this is a great way for students to be introduced to outdoor climbing, to start the move from the Gym to Crag and gain outdoor experience with oversight from an Instructor.

The Gym-to-Crag series offers both an Indoor and Outdoor experience.  Although you may take each session individually, we are also offering the complete package for each option.  While the IP Indoor option is a more focused skills session, the OP Outdoor option offers the practical application of the skills and a more comprehensive understanding of the topic.

WEIGHTLIFTING

WEIGHTLIFTING SERIES

 

WEIGHTLIFTING BASICS

In Weightlifting Basics, students will go through the work out room and discuss the equipment, demonstrate best practices, and go over climbing related exercise goals and action items to move forward.

STRENGTH TRAINING:

In Strength Training, students will go over climbing specific training systems (hang boards, moon/tension boards, and campus rungs) and will discuss scaling their workouts, injury prevention, goals and action items.

WORKOUT DEVELOPMENT:

In Workout Development, students will discuss and develop a workout regimen geared towards climbing strength training goals and learn how to devise action items to move forward.

The Weightlifting Series is a 3-class series, which covers the gym’s fitness equipment, climbing specific training, and developing a climbing specific training regimen.

Each class can be taken on its own ($25) or as a part of the series ($70).

ROUTE SETTING CLINIC

The Inner Peaks Route Setting Clinic gives participants the opportunity to work with our head route setter to learn the basics of route setting, climbing movement, route grading, and to design and build a bouldering problem of their very own.

Students will:

  • Work in groups of two and build a boulder problem consistent with their climbing abilities.
  • Work with the head setter to forerun and collaboratively grade the class’s boulder problems.This is a great way to improve your route-reading skills by learning to decipher the setter’s intended sequence.
