Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS REQUIRED BEFORE CLIMBING?

• Complete an Inner Peaks waiver
• Those 17 and under must have an Inner Peaks waiver completed by their parents or legal guardian
• Take the gym orientation

HOW DO WAIVERS WORK?

Inner Peaks requires ALL participants to have a waiver on file upon entering the facility and prior to entering the climbing areas. Important: ONLY a PARENT or COURT-APPOINTED guardian may complete an e-waiver for a participant under the age of 18. Hosts of parties cannot sign for other parents’ children. We regret that any participant under the age of 18 without a waiver completed by his or her parent or a court-appointed guardian will not be permitted to participate and will be turned away. We are PROHIBITED from making exceptions to this rule under any circumstances. Waivers can be completed online or at the front desk at our locations. We strongly urged you to take a few minutes and complete the waiver online prior to your visit. If you need help completing the online waiver please call and we can walk you through it.

HOW SAFE IS CLIMBING?

There are many risks and dangers inherent and integral to the sport of climbing and when you climb you make a personal assumption of these risks. You can do everything right and still be seriously injured, or even killed. Your safety is your responsibility. The exercise of good judgment, common sense and the proper use of equipment can help reduce risks. Please seek professional instruction before attempting this sport. Inner Peaks does not require the use of a helmet indoors at the gym, though we strongly recommend the use of a helmet when rock climbing outdoors and REQUIRE helmet use for all outdoor programming.

WHO CAN BELAY FOR A PARTICIPANT UNDER THE AGE OF 14

Only an adult^ can belay for any participant under the age of 14.

^Exceptions may be made at the discretion of Front Counter Staff or Management only and are situation-specific.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

We recommend that first-time climbers wear comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement. We are fully climate controlled, so folks are usually comfortable climbing in shorts and a t-shirt. Do not, however, wear short-shorts as the climbing harness will feel very uncomfortable. We also do not recommend jeans because they don’t stretch, restricting your movement. Sweat pants and shirt or any loose fitting clothing makes a good secondary option. Kids can easily climb in a pair of comfortable, tight fitting athletic shoes. We do rent specialized climbing shoes ($5) that will provide more secure footing on the wall. If you choose to rent climbing shoes, please bring socks.

HOW CAN I GIVE THE GIFT OF CLIMBING?
