Event: Break The Nose Date of Event: January 27th, 2024
Overview: Break The Nose is an 8-hour rope climbing fundraising competition for the Carolina Climbers Coalition. Teams of 2 climbers will challenge themselves to gain as many vertical feet as possible during the comp. The ”Nose” is in reference to the 31-pitch trad climb on Yosemite’s El Capitan. Climbers must climb 3,000 vertical feet in order to ‘Break The Nose’!

Cost to participate:
Early bird: $55 for Non-Members/ $50 for Members (Jan 1st – Jan 7th)
January 8th-Day of: $65 for Non-Members/ $60 for Members
Event Schedule: Saturday, January 27th, 2024
- 9- 10 am: Competitor check-in
- 9: 45 am: Rules meeting
- 10 am – 6pm: Climbing session
- 12 pm: Mini comp/ challenge/ raffle #1 begins
- 2 pm: Mini comp/ challenge/ raffle #2 begins
- 4 pm: Mini comp/ challenge/ raffle #3 begins
- 6- 7 pm: Awards ceremony and prize pass out
Additional event info:
- This is a fundraiser for the CCC, who not only help climbers in our region gain access to new and existing crags, but also acts as leaders in education surrounding responsible stewardship of the local climbing areas.
- Registrants will be categorized based on their age groups and the average of their age will determine their groups
- The event is a full day- 1 hour of check-in, 8 hours of climbing, 1 hour of awards/after-party
- Climbers do not have to show up at the beginning of the event and they also do not need to be there the whole day
- There will be games to play, raffles to win, and climbs to climb
- Bouldering and short ropes will be open to the public during the event
- Tall wall access will be limited to competitors for the duration of the event
- Local vendor’s village will be accessible to the public
